Swastik Harish is a consultant at the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) – India’s first prospective National Innovation University addressing the challenges of urbanisation through an integrated programme of education, research, consulting and advisory services.

Swastik is currently an architecture and design consultant for a manufacturing unit at Tokai Rubber Auto-Parts India (P) Ltd., Bengaluru. He is the principal architect and master planner of a 1000 sqm. Recruitment Training Center for Anoohya Trust and the Government of Karnataka and has recently completed a 1000 sqm. residential building for a Six Family Community, at Kalyan Nagar, Bangalore.
Swastik has also been in the teaching line since 2003. He was a visiting consultant at Rai Foundation, Faridabad NCR Delhi (2003-04); Sushant School of Art and Architecture, Gurgaon NCR Delhi (2004-05); BMS College of Engineering, Bengaluru (2006-07) and School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada (2009-2010).
Swastik is skilled in design software like AutoCAD and 3D Studio Max, along with Open Source IT systems like the Linux operating system, Libreoffice, Inkscape and VmWare. He is also highly proficient in physical modeling of products and architectural designs.
At IIHS, Swastik is involved in the planning and research for the upcoming IIHS campus at Bengaluru. He is part of the design & implementation team for the IIHS Program for Working Professionals. He has contributed to the core curriculum development of the academic programmes. Swastik assists in the financial modelling for IIHS financial projections and works on the IT-based Pedagogic and Project Technology Systems.
Swastik won the third prize at the Banganga Crematorium National Architectural Competition in Mumbai (2004).
Swastik loves theatre and cinematography. He has acted, designed and managed production of more than 15 professional and amatuer productions. He was the director of ‘The Renegade’ by Albert Camus’ (2004) and the ‘The Odd Couple’ by Neil Simon (2000).
Swastik’s projects in cinematography include:
- Co-Director & Scriptwriter, ‘Medieval Rain Water Collection Systems in Rajasthan.’ Documentary film commissioned by Social Work Research Center, Tilonia Rajasthan; completed September 2004.
- Art Direction Team, ‘In Othello’. Independent film production directed by Roytsen Abel; Delhi 2005.
- Art Director, various TV productions by ‘Headlines Today’, ‘Aaj Tak’, ‘NDTV’ etc.; Delhi 2000-2006
Swastik has a passion for travelling, especially biking. He has biked to Leh and to Kanyakumari, nearly the entire east coast, and many parts of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.
