Rashmi M K is a research associate at the Indian Institute for Human Settlements – India’s first prospective National Innovation University addressing the challenges of urbanisation through an integrated programme of education, research, consulting and advisory services.

Rashmi is a part of the Geographical Information Systems (GIS) laboratory and research group at IIHS. She is currently working for the Urban Atlas Project which involves the analysis of land-use and land-cover changes for over 400 Indian cities. She is also part of other research projects at the lab and facilitates the GIS and RS courses conducted by IIHS.
During her under-graduation, Rashmi carried out a project on Ground Water Analysis in Bangalore in partial fulfillment of the requirements of the degree of BSc. She also participated in a project with the EIA (Environmental Impact assessment) team of Bangalore University for baseline data collection on loss of trees, traffic density, existing noise and air pollution for the proposed Speed Metro Rail Project connecting the International Devenahalli Airport (BIA).
Rashmi has worked with several NGOs in the area of GIS and remote sensing. She has also volunteered with the National Service Scheme (NSS) and has attended NSS camps.
Rashmi is passionate about research and seeks to enhance her knowledge of the various applications of GIS and remote sensing.
In her free time, Rashmi enjoys traveling, trekking and experimenting with various adventure sports.
