Geetika Anand is an associate at the Indian Institute for Human Settlements – India’s first prospective National Innovation University addressing the challenges of urbanisation through an integrated programme of education, research, consulting and advisory services.
Education:
- M.Sc Social Policy and Development from London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), United Kingdom (2008)
- Bachelor of Planning from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, India (2005)
Prior to IIHS, Geetika worked as an independent consultant in the planning and development sector. Her projects include preparation of City Development Plan (CDP) for Sarni, Damua, Ashoknagar and Sheopur for the Government of Madhya Pradesh, preparation of case studies for Lok Awaas Yatra organized by Development Alternatives with Knowledge Works, a research paper on ‘Development Deficit in Bihar: What Can Be Done?’ for UNDP with Independent Consultant Mr. Saurabh Sinha, conduction and documentation of ‘Community Led Total Sanitation Workshops’ for World Bank and UNICEF with Feedback Ventures Private Limited and research work for the preparation of ‘Guidelines for Reconstruction in Flood Affected Areas of Bihar’ for BMTPC with Knowledge Works.
Geetika has been a visiting faculty at School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi (July ’09 to May’10).
Geetika has worked as a Consultant to Development Alternatives for research on “Guidelines for Rural Habitat Policy in India” before which she was a Sub-Consultant to Rajasthan Government with Sandeep Subhash for the preparation of Project Profiles for 18 destinations in Rajasthan under the Government of India’s ‘Rural Tourism Scheme’ and ‘Destination Development Scheme.
Geetika interned with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), India, where she contributed in ‘Disaster Risk Management Programme’, and with National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), where she contributed in the project, “Improving Access to Urban Basic Services of the Poor in the City of Delhi” under the CARE PLUS programme.
At IIHS, Geetika has been involved with the detailing of individual courses in the MUP curriculum, supporting the curriculum development process and organisation of the short-courses.
Geetika has won several accolades from her universities, which include:
- Full scholarship for pursuing graduate programme in LSE.
- First Class with Distinction in Graduation Senior Secondary and Secondary Education.
Geetika enjoys pottery, crafts, theatre, yoga, meditation, travelling and photography.
