Amlanjyoti Goswami is a consultant at the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) – India’s first prospective National Innovation University addressing the challenges of urbanisation through an integrated programme of education, research, consulting and advisory services.

Amlan was a Research Associate at National Knowledge Commission based in New Delhi for three years from 2006-2009. Set up by the Prime Minister of India in 2005, the NKC formulated long-term policy blueprints on issues relating to creation, application and dissemination of knowledge. He worked on individual and cross-cutting policy linkages in higher education, entrepreneurship, innovation, Intellectual Property Rights (including Traditional Knowledge), legal framework for publicly funded research, legal education, Public Private Partnerships (PPP) in education, knowledge access, and folklore and traditional knowledge in North-East India. His reports on entrepreneurship and innovation are available for download at the National Knowledge Commission website.
Amlan was an Associate at the Banking and Finance Team of Amarchand Mangaldas, New Delhi. He served as Advocate, Chambers of Harish N Salve, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India (2004-2005 session of the Supreme Court). He participated as External Consultant to World Bank, Washington D.C., USA (March- April 2004). In addition, he was a Research Associate to Prof. James Gustave (Gus) Speth, Yale University, USA (August 2003-March 2004) and a summer Fellow at CIEL, Washington D.C., USA (June-August 2003).
Amlan was awarded the University Gold Medal in Sociology and also secured the First Class First position from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University. He also received the Inlaks Scholarship for academic and all-round excellence.
Amlan harbours versatile interests ranging from literature to music. He is particularly keen on sports and the outdoors, having represented both Yale and Harvard in Table tennis.
